BIO.
Sybil Jason was born in Capetown, South Africa on November 23, 1929. At the age of two, she was picking out tunes on the piano, and at age three she was impersonating Maurice Chevalier in public performances. By the time she was five, she was appearing at night clubs in London, singing, dancing, doing impressions and playing piano.
Sybil's uncle, Harry Jacobson, was a top flight pianist with the Ray Noble and Caroll Gibbons orchestras and also the personal accompanist to Gracie Fields. It was Gracie Fields who introduced Sybil to the London public and was responsible for her getting her first movie part in London.
During this time, she performed with various orchestra's, appeared on radio and made a number of recordings. At the apex of her London career, she appeared with Frances Day at a concert at the Palace Theatre, stopping the show.
A movie producer at the concert signed her for a part in Barnacle Bill. Irving Asher, in charge of Warner Brothers' London studio, saw the film, and arranged for Sybil to have a screen test with Warner's. Warner's signed her, and at the time, she was the only child star at Warner Bros. She was in a total of 11 feature films from 1935-1940. She was also featured in a number of Vitaphone shorts.
Today, she is still touching the hearts of many people thanks to television and video tape and is often seen doing " one on one" interviews on programs such as American Movie Classics, Arts and Entertainment, and Biography, to name a few.
All of her Warner Brothers movies are regularly shown on Turners Classic Movies. (T.C.M) Sybil is still very active in the world of entertainment. Besides doing lecture tours, she has written a musical called " GARAGE SALE" who's productions keep her very busy.
Sybil has just finishes her career autobiography called "MY FIFTEEN MINUTES" and is now am hoping to find a publisher!!!
Sybil and husband writer Tony Drake have one daughter, Toni, who is married to three times Emmy winner producer Phillip Wayne Rossi of" The Price is Right'' fame and their son, Daniel, who is the apple of Tony and Sybil's eye.
